Welcome to my new space on Medium. As stated in my profile, I’m a tech guy and an avid reader of sci-fi and fantasy. I’ll be using this space to talk about the books I read and anything interesting I’m up to.

A Quick Introduction

For this first post, I’d like just to share a bit of background. I’ve been in IT since the very early 1990’s. My first computer experience came on an old Atari 800 XL and I spent more hours than is probably acceptable playing Ultima and trying to learn BASIC (I am so not a programmer).

I jumped from DOS to Windows 3.1 and then into OS/2. I remember the horrors of coaxial cable networking and Artisoft LANtastic. Does anyone else remember AutoCAD taking minutes to redraw a screen or using pen plotters? I’m sure some of you do, but for those that don’t, it was the definition of painful.

I’m also a big believer in continuing education. I’ve completed numerous industry certifications and mentored others through the process.

What to Expect

I’ll be posting about sci-fi and fantasy stuff, providing some insight into my favorite works and posting about my personal experiences with technology and industry certifications.
