So Now What?

Earlier this week, an article popped up in my feed about getting to 100 followers. It was a how to guide and soon, several more showed up with it. I was intrigued, but was thinking this was a scheme that wouldn’t work for me. I was surprised at how realistic each of the articles were and was very grateful for the information provided by each author.

So just what was said?

First, each article has a similar bit of guidance.

  1. Read through my article.
  2. Interact with me in the comments section.
  3. Interact with others who are following me.
  4. Click follow and I will follow back.

Others provided additional guidance. Some of this is pretty basic, but I’ll echo it here as it is useful information —

  1. Want to know how many followers you have? Try medium.com/<@username>/followers — Of course replace the <@username> with your username.
  2. Want to know your stats? medium.com/me/stats — I watch this often as it lets me see how my articles are trending.

Other tips?

Don’t just follow people and ignore them if they follow you back. If you get comments on your articles, follow the commentor and respond to them.

So far this has worked wonders for me. So whats next? Keep going! I’m not stopping because of some arbitrary number like 100! I’m going for 1,000 and then onward. I don’t just want followers, I want engaged readers.

Upcoming Work

So far I’ve been writing book reviews, talking about some of my favorite authors, exploring self improvement through education and talking a bit about the game industry. Expect more of this and for me to expand my conversations into other topics.
